On Thursday, June the 22nd 2017 a study day will be carried out at the Milan Polytechnic, with the title:
ATVB Agip Tourist Village Borca – Understanding and enhancing Edoardo Gellner’s Eni Village in Corte di Cadore.
curated by Stefania Varvaro and Rossana Garbaglio.
Gamma Conference Hall, Viam Ampère 2, Milan Polytechnic.
Dolomiti Contemporanee will take part in it with a speech by Gianluca D’Incà Levis, curator of Progettoborca.
The study day puts the focus on one of Edoardo Gellner’s most renown architectural creations. The Eni Village in Borca di Cadore is definitely the most important work that Gellner had the good fortune of realizing as per the unyielding will of Enrico Mattei, president of Eni and essential figure for the understanding of the Village’s design, and for Italy as a whole on the tail end of the 50s and the first half of the 60s. The Village represents, because of its huge scope, an exceptional field of architectural and landscape experimentation in a period of time in which architecture approaches the theme of the mountain as a wole, and interprets the elements of tradition building.
The study day will be developed in two sessions:
the first one aims to investigate the characteristics of the former Eni Village, giving it historical context and documenting its planning richness;
the second one means to tackle the theme of the Colonia’s (Eng.: summer camp building) reusage from different perspectives. The biggest structure of the village deserves a specific reflection for the relaunching of possible future outlines.
